F. Richard Preuss, Jr. CLU®, ChFC®
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give---Winston Churchill
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Rich attended University of Notre Dame and graduated in 1980 with a BBA in Finance. Considering a vocation to the priesthood, he continued his studies at Notre Dame, earning a MA in Theology in 1982. Discerning celibacy wasn’t his calling, he married Beth and together they have 10 children.
Rich joined Healy Financial after completing his studies. In keeping with his goal to offer both a professional and informed direction to his clients, he obtained a CLU designation in 1987, and a ChFC designation in 1988. He became an owner of Healy Financial in 1986. Over the years, he’s been involved in industry associations and numerous business and not-for-profit boards. Currently, he is the President of Healy Group and Chairman of the Board of Christians in Commerce, an organization committed to integrating faith and work.
Rich views his work as connecting his clients’ money to their values. He explains, “Your money is you in foldable form. It isn’t just about rates of return, asset allocation, and maximizing wealth; it is about creating a better life for those you love and creating a better world. Efficient use of your money and resources positions you to accomplish this.”
When Rich has spare time, he enjoys spending it with family, reading, cycling, coaching soccer, and hiking the Appalachian Trail (600 miles down, 1500 to go). He’s also enjoying working with his fellow owners at Healy Group to develop a better sense of humor.
Throughout his 35+ years at Healy Financial, his client base has grown to a level where he is not able to take on many new clients. As he considers his succession plan, he has chosen three young advisors who share his values to carry on his work. Rich regards his work with clients as a lifelong relationship, and it is important to him that they work with successor advisors who share his commitment to the Healy Spirit and who are highly competent.
