Compassion in Action: The Healy Way
As we celebrate 50 years of the Healy Group, we’re reflecting on the moments that define who we are — not just as a company, but as a community.
Cynthia Casas, Practice Manager, recently shared a personal experience from 2024 when her cousin was hospitalized following a serious accident. During an incredibly uncertain and emotional time for her family, Cynthia reached out to ask if she could share a fundraiser with her colleagues. What followed was a powerful reminder of the culture that has been built here over the years.
Team members offered prayers, donated to the family’s GoFundMe, and some even attended a community food sale organized to help with expenses while Cynthia’s cousin recovered.
For Cynthia, the gestures — both large and small — meant more than she could have expected, especially as a relatively new team member at the time.
She described it as a moment that showed her the Healy Group is different. It wasn’t simply coworkers responding to a request, but people coming together with compassion, generosity, and genuine care for one another.
Fifty years of the Healy Group story include milestones, growth, and success — but it is also made up of moments like this. Moments when people step forward to support one another, demonstrating that culture is not just something we talk about, but something we live.
Thank you, Cynthia, for sharing your story and for reminding us that the heart of the Healy Group has always been its people.
The Heart Behind The Culture
Sometimes the true measure of a workplace isn’t seen in the day-to-day — it’s revealed in life’s unexpected moments.
For Lu Spencer, Director of Finance at the Healy Group, that moment came during a visit to her daughter in New York. What was meant to be a joyful trip quickly turned into a frightening experience when her daughter required emergency surgery and remained hospitalized for more than two weeks.
During that time, Lu felt the strength of the Healy Group community surrounding her. Teammates reached out with encouragement, flowers, and regular check-ins, ensuring she knew she wasn’t navigating the situation alone. With that support behind her, Lu could focus fully on her family while trusting her workplace cared just as deeply.
As the Healy Group celebrates 50 years, stories like Lu’s highlight what truly defines our legacy — a culture where people rally together, relationships come first, and compassion is more than a value… it’s action.
Here’s to 50 years of caring for our clients, our community, and each other.
Going the Extra Mile: How We Helped CRNAs Fast-Track Student Loan Forgiveness
At the Healy Group, we believe in going the extra mile for our clients every day—that’s the heart of our Healy Spirit. It’s not just about offering financial advice; it’s about uncovering opportunities that make a real impact.
In 2023, we had the privilege of helping several Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) navigate the complexities of student loan forgiveness through the Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) waiver. Many of them came to us believing they had another 10 years of payments ahead. But we saw an opportunity to change their financial trajectory.
One client, a recent graduate, was overwhelmed by the thought of a decade of student loan payments. After a thorough review of their loans, we identified that they qualified for consolidation under the IDR waiver—an option they didn’t even know existed. Within 12 months, instead of 10 years, their loans were completely forgiven. The relief and gratitude they expressed reminded us why we do what we do.
This wasn’t an isolated case. Time and time again, we rolled up our sleeves, dug into the details, and found solutions that others overlooked. Whether it was working late to meet deadlines, making extra calls to loan servicers, or crafting a strategy that maximized every available benefit, we made sure our clients received the financial freedom they deserved.
While the IDR waiver has ended, our commitment to going above and beyond for our clients hasn’t. If you’re wondering whether there’s a smarter way to manage your student loans, let’s talk. We’re here to help you find the best path forward—because at The Healy Group, going the extra mile isn’t just what we do; it’s who we are.

Stewardship
Long before I started a career in financial planning, I began a journey of learning how best to manage my own finances. I read books, listened to countless experts and took classes to strengthen my knowledge around the area of money management. In my quest for knowledge, I found one source of information always rising to the top as sound financial wisdom that many economists, financial advisors and the like based their philosophies and strategies in, the Bible. It gives timeless practical wisdom in financial strategies such as diversification, debt management, insurance, charitable giving, taxes, the list goes on and on. In fact, the Bible discusses money more than any singular topic.
As I began to apply Biblical wisdom to my own finances, I noticed a reoccurring theme of stewardship that God laid out in the text. A true steward, at any level, realizes what they have been entrusted with is to be carefully handled, knowing there’s an obligation to its owner.
Separate from my journey of stewardship by miles, generations and culture was the Healy Group. Despite the differences in our times and paths, God too was building a business for 50 years whose cornerstone was built on wise financial stewardship. Out of Healy’s stewardship mindset, greatness over the years was developed not only in the fruits of a successful business, but most importantly by the flourishing of the clients they served. Thankfully, for me, God would have it that our paths eventually met, and I am now grateful to be a part of the Healy team as we continue to bring our role as stewards to a new generation. We are honored that our clients entrust us with some of the most valuable resources they own.
We are committed to continuing the greatness our founder, Ed Healy, established as we apply the wisdom of stewardship in all that we do. Our careful handling of what you highly value, obligates us to strive for greatness daily. Thank you for holding us to this high standard!

Key Person Life Insurance
Key Person-Helping Business Continuation
Insure the key people who are essential to the success of your business. Most companies have a person, or several people whose skills are vital to the success of the organization. A key person may be an owner, partner, or an employee.
The key person has skills that, if something happened to them, the business would suffer in one way or another: loss of credibility, loss of key accounts, reduction in production, etc. … or even the intangible loss of team chemistry and business culture. This Key Person Life Insurance is designed to protect a business from financial loss at the death of a key person, as well as to provide funding to find a replacement of similar expertise and experience.
The Concept and Process:
The employer purchases a life insurance policy on the key person and is the owner, payor, and beneficiary of the policy.
If the death of the key person happens, death benefits are paid to the employer, usually tax free. These funds are then used to recruit a replacement of the key person, who is of the same caliber and expertise.
At the retirement of the key person, the policy’s cash value (if a whole life policy), may be used by the employer to supplement the employee’s retirement income, or to help recruit a replacement. Income to the employee is taxable so that will be a consideration.
The products often used are our Term, Whole Life, and Return of Premium coverages.

Going Beyond the Numbers: How We Aim to Embrace the spirit of 'Being Better' in Financial Planning
One of the four core tenets in our Healy Spirit mission is to "Be Better". At Healy Group, we believe that true financial planning isn’t just about running numbers—it’s about answering the real-life “what-ifs” that keep you up at night. That’s how we choose to be better for our clients every day.
One of the most rewarding moments we’ve had was helping a family navigate an emotional decision: Could the wife take five years off of work to stay home with their young children, without jeopardizing their long-term financial security?
They had been told before that financial planning was about saving for retirement and hitting investment targets. But we knew it was about something deeper: the ability to live life on their terms with confidence. So, we went beyond the traditional projections.
We ran detailed cash-flow scenarios, considering lost income, adjusted savings, and future goals. The result? We were able to show them that, yes, they could afford for her to stay home. They could still retire on time. They could still pay for their kids’ college. Most importantly, they could make this decision with peace of mind instead of fear.
The look of joy and relief on her face was priceless. She had been wrestling with uncertainty, afraid that choosing time with her children now might hurt their future. But with our guidance, she saw that wasn’t the case. She didn’t have to sacrifice one dream for another.
This is why we do what we do. Financial planning isn’t just about spreadsheets and savings rates—it’s about creating a life you love. It’s about asking the right questions, digging deeper, and going the extra mile to ensure that our clients aren’t just financially prepared, but truly at peace with their decisions.
If you have a “what-if” weighing on your mind, let’s talk. Because at The Healy Financial, being better means helping you build the life you want, not just the portfolio you need.
